PLAN’EAT (Food systems transformation towards healthy and sustainable dietary behavior), is a newly launched project. Its main goals include the understanding of underlying factors that influence dietary behavior, as well as designing effective recommendations, tools, and interventions that will transform food systems and environments towards healthier and more sustainable dietary behavior.
PLAN’EAT will appraise eco-agri-food systems across 9 European countries, using participatory and integrated systems approaches. In an inter- and trans- disciplinary approach, a combination of systemic, environmental, and individual factors influencing dietary behavior will be studied, and a toolbox for innovative behavior change interventions tailored to socio-cultural-geographical contexts and diverse population groups will be developed. Involving target population groups in the design process will enable accurate matching of their specific abilities and needs, and thereby increase the acceptability, effectiveness, and scalability of interventions.
It will bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and effective behavioral and policy changes by fostering collaboration between science, policymakers, food system actors and consumers through multi-stakeholder analysis and engagement across Europe.
The project consortium consists of 24 partners, it was launched in September 2022 and will last 48 months. It is funded by the EU under the HORIZON2021 program. The role of the Federation of Hellenic Food Industries (SEVT) will be decisive as a specific strategy will be developed by the consortium for the dissemination, exploitation, and protection of the generated knowledge.
The kick-off meeting of PLAN’EAT project took place on October 4th & 5th 2022, in Italy.
